Charlie Dickson is a primarily self-taught artist seriously creating art since 1989 and has participated in numerous art shows and had several solo exhibitions. He was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and attended Kamehameha School. He grew up amidst Hawaii’s natural beauty and was raised with some of the old ways of Hawaiian culture.
He works in acrylic and mixed media abstract painting and watercolor. His work is rooted in the intuitive, sometimes expressed in primitive patterns, ethnic, and whimsical visual imagery. He continually explores new ways of seeing and of communicating what he sees, which is often inspired by nature and native themes. In his work, he aims to use color and texture to enliven simplified forms and to express the vitality and harmony of the images he visualizes.
His art is in private and international collections.
